Tolerance Break - Finished Three Days In

Those of you who read my post earlier will know I was considering ending my t-break early. Well I did, and three days made the difference I was hoping for. I have taken two tiny tokes and am already feeling much more ready to sleep.

Goodnight guys, I might make a post about some of the stuff I tried in ‘dam tomorrow!

Tolerance break - Day the Third

So three days deep into my t-break, I’m considering severely shortening it by over half. I wanted to do a week, but I’m quite satisfied with my three days, and here’s why:

  • My use isn’t just recreational: I suffer heavily from insomnia and anxiety, I often hit my MFLB just before bed to take the edge off. Being reminded of how things were before smoking was a real eye opener, and boy is tough. A grand total of 7 hours sleep over the last two nights is a huge motivating factor to change my plans. (Abstaining from smoking when you are a regular smoker can actually exacerbate insomnia, amoung other side-effects. My insomnia is so bad that this exacerbation is basically moot.)
  • I’ve done some research: Plenty of reading about other people’s tolerance breaks has brought me to realise that people only do weeks/months when they want to get right down to 0 tolerance again. I’m not that fussed, I just wanted to lower it a touch. Say that there was a line I had to cross where I had an uncomfortably high tolerance, I think I only barely crossed it because of the inordinate amount I smoked in Amsterdam. So as long as I’m somewhere back on the other side, I’m pleased. Mention of Amsterdam brings me to my next point
  • I smoked much more than I’m used to in Amsterdam: And in the lead up I decided to spend my days high all the time. Five days straight of binge smoking was what pushed me over the edge, not the year or so of smoking. I had a similar tolerance to when I first started beforehand, because I stuck to the same amount all the time. As long as you’re not chasing that crazy uncontrollable high, your tolerance shouldn’t actually change all that much. Stick to the same amount per sesh and you should be okay for a much longer time than if you didn’t regulate. I read the story of a guy who claims to have had the same tolerance for 15 years. Supposedly he still can’t even finish a joint by himself, the lucky bastard.

So there are my reasons for giving it a go early. But don’t get me wrong, if I do this and am not satisfied with where I get to, then I’m straight back on this break. I haven’t decided whether I’m going to vape tonight or not, it wholly depends on if I can get to sleep alone. I shall keep you guys posted!

Tolerance break

I’ve been smoking for a long time. Definitely not as long as some people, I’m not all that old (I’m several years out of school though, don’t worry). All that smoking has done me a lot of good really. Despite not living in an MMJ state in the US or anything, I still consider most of my use Medical. I’m not going to hide behind that though because everyone loves doing bong rips with their friends for fun, nothing medical about that. But that’s why I smoke so much.

Things are starting to dull however, I don’t get the munchies nearly as much as I used to, and I don’t get the same level of happiness from it. So it’s time for my first ever tolerance break.

I’m on day one right now, and I have moved all my smoking gear into a relatively hard-to-reach place. My gear is always usually to hand, so it’s too easy to fill a trench on the MFLB, pack a quick bowl or roll a joint. I’m definitely lacking in the self-control department, but luckily I’m lazy as hell too, so I’m using that to my advantage.

I’m aiming for one week. I’ve never done it before so I hope this will be enough. I plan to post thoughts/progress/a summary at the end here, so just keep an eye out!

Are you on a T-break? Any tips or suggestions for me and others? Drop me an email at projectpotblog@gmail.com or write on my ask page and I might make a post of it!

A day late - 20/11/2013

The Amount:

Just the one draw this time, I had nothing on my return from Amsterdam. (Sorry about the pictures, my nice camera had run out and I was just using my phone)

image

Size:

Reasonably sized, filled the bag. I’d guess just over 2 grammes, but can’t tell properly till I have a scale. Normal size, I am neither upset or overjoyed.

image

Dealer:

I asked Silver Oliverson if he was around. He was not, he gave me a friend’s number who I have never met before. He will be given the randomly generated name: Gavin Nathans

Look, Feel, Smell:

Once again, I wasn’t told a strain by Gavin so I have no idea what to expect. Much leafier and less compressed than the last stuff. It’s got a LOT of pistils (hair), and every individual “leaf” of the flower can be made out, unlike a lot of weed where its a green/brown solid mess. Trichromes on the surface are visible but not abundant. Seems to fall apart easily though, not very dense. Didn’t get as much from grinding a nugget than I normally would, the. Smells very sharp, but sweet. Verystong smell.

The High:

The smoke was okay, it didn’t taste horrible. I would rate it a pretty solid mix between Indica and Sativa, this is what I would describe a “standard” high. Neither paticularly a head or body high. Nice and comfortable, but nothing too exciting or different. Not very potent, I’m not dissapointed but I’m lucky enough to be used to a slightly higher potency.

Final Thoughts:

This is pretty much the standard for what you buy around my area. If you don’t really know the dealer, this is what to expect.

Amsterdam

Hi guys, C.M. here. Next week I will be going to Amsterdam with a friend of mine. I am hoping to document everything I smoke out there, and post everything infrequently over the following couple of weeks. I know I promised my own slice of cannabis culture, but this is too much of a good oppertunity to pass up. I’m very interested to talk about a quality of weed I have never seen before.

I would absolutely love to hear from you guys, you can submit your own stories for posting on the blog on my ask page (please remember to tell me what country you’re from! Be more specific if you’re comfortable to!). You can also email me at: projectpotblog@gmail.com for anything.

I hope you look forward to those posts!

The first buy of the blog - 04/11/2013

The Amount:

3 draws*. Only two are pictured however, because one was for a friend. Pictured below with a 50 pence piece, and 25 cents, for our american friends.

Size**:

These are decent-sized bags. Nothing to write home about though. I’m particularly pleased with the bag on the left, with some good nuggets and not many stalks. I took everything out of the larger bag and seperated each seperate nug for you to see below.

Dealer:

A regular guy of mine, has something different nearly every time I see him. Henceforth, to protect all identities, he will be given the (randomly generated) name: Silver Oliverson.

Look, Feel, Smell:

I wasn’t given a strain by my dealer, so I don’t know what to expect from this stuff. It looks compressed and dry, which is completely normal for mids around these parts because of transport and storage methods. Despite this, while handling, it is unusually sticky (quite stiff in the grinder because of this). The surface is littered with trichromes, which unfortunately isn’t apparant in the photos, and I’m honestly very excited to smoke it. The flower holds a lot of the pistils (the brown hairs) of the flower, leaving it looking quite brown, dark green enhancing this. It smells like your standard british cheese, very distinctive and tangy. Cheese often is overpowering in smell though, penetrating the baggie and whatever you put that baggie in, but this is not the case here, it definitely stinks, but not to high heaven. Once ground however, it became particularly pungent and almost unbearable, but as I’ve found over my smoking career, the smell doesn’t often stay with weed once stored for a while.

The High***:

The smoke was very pleasant, tasting more of weed than smoke earlier on, the high concentration of trichromes was likely to blame. If I were to rate myself on a scale of 1-10, I would likely place myself at a 6. I suspect this strain was a more sativa than indica plant, as I feel more like working on some projects than sitting around watching films and eating. This is a pleasant change, as I often find myself with more indica strains, and lose hours to being stoned and hungry (thankfully I have some of a more indica strain left for the evenings). I’m also very pleased at the potency. I am very comfortable where I am, and I wouldn’t want to smoke much more through fear of losing an evening to my bed and pink floyd.

Final Thoughts:

A good buy, glad I stocked up on it. On the outside; a standard pickup, but the high was hugely unexpected.

*A draw is the standard amount sold for £20. It is between 1 and 3.5 grams, depending on who you buy from and how well you know them.

**This category will be replaced with weight when I get a scale

***I will be smoking the same size bowl every time, as a control. I do not smoke with tobacco when using this pipe, as a lot of british people do.
